Anyone who has a heart to help and wants to see a smile on a kid’s face! All we need is a little bit of your time and basic mentoring skills. That’s it! At Pragati, a mentor is a well-wisher for the kid – a friend, philosopher, guide. He or She needs to ensures that the child benefits as much as possible from Pragati support.

• Helping with target setting and identifying problems to exploring possible ways of overcoming them.
• Performance tracking and reporting back to Pragati the child’s progress.
• Identifying critical strengths and weaknesses to build self-assurance,confidence in self, and grace.
• Developing a sense of comfort with communication in English.
• Encouraging, motivating, firmly directing to participate in extra-curricular activities and Pragati activities.
• Evolving realistic career options and positively disposing of children towards them.
• Providing the administrative link between the child and Pragati – transfer of information, cheques etc.
• Keeping the child’s contact with Pragati alive after the child has graduated out of the Pragati program.

Anyone who has a time and enthusiasm to join us few times a year to involve with Pragati kids during our planned events.

To give a perspective, it takes about Rs. 10,000 (US$ 140-150) to provide educational support to one child for one year.

We are a registered charitable organization recognized by the Income Tax department of India. Donations to Pragati are exempt from Income Tax under section 80G of IT Act 1961 vide letter No.DIT(E)/80G(R)/524/E-2/07-08 from Director of IT (Exemptions), Bangalore.
